The OSL Demo web application has been configured to use the Windows security model.  Users will need to be in the groups with the appropriate rights in order to access the various components of the system.  The security model of the system can be configured to meet the needs of your organization.  Commonly, systems are setup with three different access levels and users are assigned to one of these based on their job roles.  A forth access level is used for OptiCal Sciences Limited to develop, test and validate the system.  The four security groups that we typical use are as follows:

Group

Access Level

OSL

9999

Supervisor

Operator

The OSL Demo web application has been setup for access via the internet.  Users that would like to gain access to the system must provide their windows account in order to gain access.  The authentication is handled by IIS.  If required, an internet application such as this can be configured to use and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate to encrypt data during transmissions.
